 - Commander B.K. Hubbard, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer and Post members attended the Beagles 23rd Anniversary Dinner at the Shanghai Restaurant, Angeles City.

 - American Legion Post 123 presented the Post a Certificate of Appreciation " for support to Post 123 during the observation of Memorial Day at the Clark Cemetery"

 - The July District VII Convention was held at VFW Post 11447 Post Home in Barrio Barretto.  It was sponsored by VFW Post 11447.  Delegates included Commander B K Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, Pup Tent 15 Seam Squirrel Werner Koslovski, Past All American Department/Post and current District VII Commander Robert Zaher, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer, Past All American Department Commander Ralph Milward, Comrades Cecil Johnson, Jack Avritt and Jack Turner.

 - The Post supported the 7th Annual Barrio Beach Bash in Barrio Barretto. The Beach Bash was sponsored by VFW Post 11447 and Pup Tent 11. Commander B.K. Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, Pup Tent 15 Seam Squirrel Werner Koslovski, Past All American Department/Post and current District VII Commander Robert Zaher, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer, Past All American Department Commander Ralph Milward, Comrades Cecil Johnson, Jack Arvitt and Jack Turner.

- The Post received a Certificate of Appreciation from the National VFW 100th Anniversary

Committee "for outstanding support to VFW programs."

 - On 10 July, American Legion Post 10 performed the grave side ceremony for the cremated

remains of SMSGT Herbert Link, USAF (Ret) at the Clark Cemetery. Comrade Ling died 11 June1997, but his wife delayed his interment.

 - The Post held it first monthly meeting in the new Post Home on 11 July.  At this meeting,

Comrade Ron Barker and Miss Jesse Canares presented the Post with a framed/signed photo of

the Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team.

 - Membership Night, for Post members and invited guests was held 16 July.

 - On 30 July, Commander B.K. Hubbard and Cemetery Chairman Al Mitchell delivered a new

proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to the Office of the Clark Development

Corporation (CDC) CEO Rufo Colayco.  The Post has an MOA with CDC to maintain the Clark

Cemetery, the MOA is due to expire 11 November 1999.

 - At the 1 August Post meeting, MOC Pinatubo - Pup Tent 15 Seam Squirrel Werner Koslovski.

on behalf of the Pup Tent, presented the Post with a new Pledge of Allegiance Banner for the new Post Home.

 - On 5 August, Commander B.K. Hubbard (Post Commander is president of the Council)

convened Angeles City Ex-Pat Council at the Team House Meeting Room of Moon Doggies.

Organizations represented included VFW Post 2485, MOC Pinatubo- Pup Tent 15, the Beagles.

American Legion Post 123, American Legion Post 10, RUMPA, the Returned and Services

League (RSL) of Angeles City Branch, Mt Arayat Shrine Oasis, Special Forces Association, RAO Angeles City.

 - Post members supported the 2nd Annual MOC Pinatubo - Pup Tent 15 Social on 7 August, at

the Bonanza Hotel, Angeles City.  Eighty Four members and guests enjoyed an afternoon of

enjoyable conversation, cool drinks and an all you can eat Bar-B-Oue.  Seam Squirrel Werner

Koslovski presented Rob Williams, owner/manager of the Bonanza Hotel a Pup Tent 15 Letter of Appreciation for his continued support of the Pup Tent and the Post.  Comrade R.C. Cox, Post 11447, joined in the afternoon festivities.

 - On 13 August, the Post held an Appreciation Night for Junior Past, All Pacific and All State

Commander Lafayette Donaldson.  Commander B.K. Hubbard presented him with an engraved

VFW key chain, and Past All American Department/Post and current District VII Commander

Robert Zaher presented him with a Past Commanders Pin and Department Senior Vice

Commander Paul Gasperson presented him with an All Pacific hat and blazer.  Approximately 75

members, wives, supporters and significant others were present.

 - In August, Post delegates to the National VFW Convention in Kansas City were Past All

American Department/Post and current District VII Commander Robert Zaher and Past All

American District VII and Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer.

- On 20 August, Kuripots - Pup Tent 11 (Post 11447) conducted the Cootie grave side burial

ceremony for SSGT Allen Whittington, USAF (Ret) at the Clark Cemetery.  The Post and

Pinatubo - Pup Tent 15 were represented by Commander B.K. Hubbard, Seam Squirrel Werner

Koslovski, Past Grand Commander John Welsh, Cooties Roy Banning Jerry Prinz, Ken Miller,

Mike DeSare and Cecil Johnson.

 - On 21 August, the Post and Pup Tent 15 members hosted a luncheon for Dr Esmeraldo DeGuzman at the Post Home. The luncheon was held to honor the Doctors selection as Grand Pacific Non VFW Supporter of the Year. This was the second year in a row he has been chosen for this honor. Seam Squirrel Werner Koslovski presented Dr DeGuzman with the Grand Pacific Non VFW Supporter of the Year Plaque. Dr DeGuzman was accompanied to the luncheon by two of his nurses Marlyn Quizon and Abigail Benasa.  Post and Pup Tent 15 members present included Commander B.K. Hubbard, Seam Squirrel Werner Koslovski, Past All American District III Commander Roy Banning, Past All American Department Commander Ralph Milward, Past Grand Commander John Welsh, Comrades Cecil Johnson, Buddy McGuire, Jerry Prinz and Jack Arvitt.

 - On 25 August, Post officers performed the grave side VFW ceremony for cremated remains MSGT Doyle Kemp, USMC (Ret). Comrade Kemp was also a member of Pup Tent 15.  Comrade Kemp died at Tripler Army Hospital, Hawaii, but his wife brought his cremated remains back to be buried at the Clark Cemetery.

 - On 7 September, Post 11447 Officers performed the VFW grave side burial ceremony for MGYST William L. Tillotson, USMC (Ret) at the Clark Cemetery.

 - On 15 September, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz attended a diplomatic cocktail

reception in Makati. The reception was hosted by the Minister Counselor of U.S. Embassy

Manila at his residence.  The reception was in honor of Mr Joseph Thompson, Under Secretary

for Benefits, Veterans Affairs.  Other representatives from Angeles City included the RAO,

American Legion Post 123 and DAV.

 - Post Officers performed the VFW gave side ceremony for SPC Earnest C. Tan-Chi III, USA at the Manila. Memorial Park Cemetery on 21 September. SPC Tan-Chi was killed in an automobile accident in Texas. The Post performed the grave side ceremony at the request of the family and JUSTMAGPHIL.  Officers participating were Commander B K Hubbard Senior Vice

Commander Robert McGovern, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, Officer of the Day Steve

Piechocky and acting Chaplin Kenneth Schaefer.

 - Post officers performed the VFW grave side burial ceremony for PVT Fred Hankins, USA

Veteran on 1 October.

 - Post officers performed the VFW grave side burial ceremony for SSGT Medardo Y.

Masangcay, USAF (Ret) on 4 October.

 - American Legion Post 10 performed grave side burial ceremony for LCOL Lyle J. Clevenger,

USAF (Ret) at the Clark Cemetery, on 5 October.

 - On 5 October, Post officers provided the VFW grave side burial ceremony for MMC Dan Pangan, USN at La Pieta Memorial Cemetery in Angeles City.  Chief Pangan died while on active duty, his body was shipped back to the Philippines for burial.  The Post performed the grave side ceremony at the request of the family.  Officers participating were Commander B K Hubbard Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, Officer of the Day Steve Piechocky and acting Chaplin Kenneth Schaefer.

 - On 7 October, Angeles City Ex-Pat Council convened at the Beagles Meeting Room of the Dog House. Organizations represented included VFW Post 2485, MOC Pinatubo- Pup Tent 15, the Beagles, American Legion Post 123, 40/8, American Legion Post 10, RUMP, the Returned and Services League RSL) of Angeles City Branch, Mt Arayat Shrine Oasis, Special Forces Association and RAO Angeles City.

 - The Post was invited, by the Mayor of Angeles City, to participate in the Angeles City Bagius 99 Parade on 9 October. The Post joined with members of the Angeles City Ex-Pat Council to enter a float in the Parade. The float was decorated with the U.S., Philippine and unit flags from the participating organizations. Comrade Dan Steingrubber was team leader for the project.

 - On 9 October, the Post held the 2nd Annual Fund Raising Social at the Bonanza Hotel in Angeles City. Approximately 135 members, supporters and friends of the Post enjoyed an afternoon of camaraderie and good food.  Commander B.K. Hubbard presented Rob Williams owner/manager of the Bonanza Hotel, with a VFW Post 2485 plague for continuous support to the Post.  Junior Vice Commander R.C. Cox, VFW Post 11447, joined in the festivities.

 - On 14 October, Past All American Department/Post and current District VII Commander Robert Zaher, District Adjutant and Past All American Department Commander Ralph Milward attended the 3rd Anniversary of Post 124 in Baguio.

 - American Legion Post 10 performed the grave side burial ceremony for MSGT Walter E. Adams at the Clark Cemetery on 14 October.

 - Post officers performed the VFW grave side burial ceremony for SMSGT Mario V. Coli,  USAF (Ret).

 - Post members supported the 8th Annual Chili Cook-Off at the Bali Hai Resort in La Union on 16 October.  The Cook Off is sponsored by Post 9892 and Pup Tent 7.  Attendees included Commander B.K. Hubbard, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, Past All American Department Post Commander and current District VII Commander Robert Zaher, Lafayette Donaldson, Pat Grand Commander John Welsh, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer, Comrades Ken Miller, Cliff Wilsey.  Comrade George Wheatstine, Miss Lucy Balanquit and Comrade Bill Prokoff made up the Post Chili Team.  The Post Miss Chili Pepper, Miss Mary Jane Gregario, representing both the Post and La Bamba Cantina, came in second in the Miss Chili Pepper Contest.

 - On 17 October, the Post and Pup Tent donated 26 jars of peanut butter/mayo to Post 9892 and Pup Tent 7 to be utilized at the Heinz Woelke Blind School in Baguio.

 - The Post received a letter from the Development Corporation (CDC) stating there would be no burials allowed at the Clark Cemetery after 11 November 1999.  The letter was dated 21 October and delivered to the Post on 26 October.

 - On 29 October, Post officers performed the VFW grave side burial ceremony for SSGT William S. Cost, USAF, (Ret).

 - Commander B.K. Hubbard called a meeting of the Angeles City Ex-Pat Council on 2 November at the Team House meeting Room of Moon Doggies.  He explained the denial of burials and the plans for rebuttal.  Organizations attending included VFW Post 2485, MOC Pinatubo- Pup Tent 15, the Beagles, American Legion Post 123, American Legion Post 10, RUMPA, the Returned and Services League of Angeles City Branch, Mt Arayat Shrine Oasis, Special Forces Association and RAO Angeles City.  

 - At a small ceremony on 2 November, the Post presented an Plaque of Appreciation and a “Post 2485 Miss Chili Pepper” T-shirt to Miss Mary Jane Gregario for representing the Post in the 199 Miss Chili Pepper Contest.  The La Bamba Cantina was also presented a Plaque of Appreciation for their continued support of Post programs.  Those present included Commander B.K. Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, Junior Past Commander Lafayette Donaldson, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer, Comrades John Welsh, Ken Miller and Jim Mahoney.

 - On 3 November the Post delivered a rebuttal to the CDC letter denying burials at the Clark Cemetery.

 - Commander B.K. Hubbard and Cemetery Chairman Al Mitchell met with CDC Executive Vice President Escolastica Segovia on 3 November.  The proposed MOA and denial of burials at the cemetery were discussed.  After the discussion, the burial denial was rescinded and Ms Segovia stated the MOA would more than likely be approved for another five years.  The MOA must be brought the Board of Directors.  

 - In a 5 November 1999, Personal Memo from National Commander John Smart, containing the VFW National Membership Report, Post 2485 ranks 1st (102.35%) in Division 4 (600-1000

members).

 - Post officers performed the VFW grave side burial ceremony for CPO Johnny P. Carter, USN (Ret) on 5 November.

 - The Post hosted the November District VII Convention in Angeles City on 10 November.  At the convention,  Comrade Tom Morrison, Post 9892, presented MOC Pinatubo - Pup Tent 15 with a Letter of Appreciation from the students of the Heinz Woelke Blind School in Baguio.  The letter was for support the Pup Tent has given the school.  The letter was in braille, but also a readable translation.  The letter will be framed and hung on the Cootie wall in the new Post Home.

 ‑ Comrade Dale Wyman represented the Post at Veterans Day activities at the American Cemetery and the Libingan ng Mga Bayani (Philippine Cemetery) in Manila.

 ‑ On 11 November, the Post coordinated the Veterans Day Observance at the Clark Cemetery. The ceremony at the cemetery was supported by various U.S. Veterans groups from Angeles City, Barrio Barretto, La Union, Baguio and the Returned & Services League (RSL), Angeles City Branch.  The 600th PAF Air Base Wing firing detail and the Air Base Wing Band were present.  Approximately 400‑450 persons were in attendance.  Guest speakers were Mr John P. Caulfield, Consul General, U.S. Embassy, Manila; COL Balboa, representing the Clark Development Corporation (CDC); COL Panares, Deputy Commander, 600th ABW, Philippine Air Force; Mayor Morales of Mabalacat; Vice Mayor Zalamea of Angeles City; Mr Joe Cooley, Veterans Administration, Regional Office, Manila.  Organizations represented were VFW Post 2485, MOC Pup Tent 15, American Legion Post 123 and their Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 10, 40/8, American Legion Post 94, Chapter 3, Disabled Americans Veterans and their Ladies Auxiliary, Retired U.S. Military Philippines Association (RUMPA), the Beagles, Det XLVI, U.S. Army Special Forces Association, Australia's Returned and Services League (RSL), VFW Post 9892, MOC Pup Tent 7, VFW Post 11447, MOC Pup Tent 11, VFW Post 124, American Legion Post 4 and their Ladies Auxiliary, Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), Branch 367 and their Ladies Auxiliary, Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), Branch 74, Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 46, VFW Post 10033, JUSTMAGPHIL, Australian Defense Attache Office, 636TH Base Services Squadron Band, PAF,  620TH Security Police Group Firing Detail and Color Guard.

 ‑ The Annual Veterans Day Picnic at the Post Home was held after the Clark Cemetery Ceremony.  Approximately 250 Comrades and their families and friends enjoyed an afternoon of camaraderie, good food and cold drinks.

 ‑ 11 November 1999 was the Second Anniversary of the Clark Cemetery Grave Diggers.  Membership on date stood at 421.

 ‑ At 1000 hours 14 November, the new Post Home was blessed by Father Sonny Pahia, Immaculate Conception Parish, Angeles City.  Commander B.K. Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, Past All American Department, All American Post Commander and Current District VII Commander Robert Zaher and approximately 20 Post members, employees and supporters were present.  At 1300 hours 14 November, the Post celebrated the Grand Opening of the new Post Home.  Department Commander Emory Russell, District VII Commander Robert Zaher and Commander B.K. Hubbard participated in the ribbon cutting.  Light pu pus were served.  Approximately 200 members, guests and supporters were present.

 - The Post WEB Site went active on 14 November.

 - On 15 November, Post 11447 Officers performed the VFW grave side burial ceremony for CWO2 Thomas A. Hughes, USA (Ret).  Also on 15 November, in a separate ceremony Post 11447 Officers performed the VFW grave side ceremony for HMCS Wayne L. Sobon, USN (Ret)at the Clark Cemetery.

 - On 17 November, Commander B.K. Hubbard and Clark Cemetery Chairman Al Mitchell were invited to attend a Veteran-Employee Appreciation Day at the Chancery of the U.S. Embassy, Manila. The event was sponsored by the VA Regional Office, Manila.  The Post was recognized for it contributions to the Clark Cemetery.  The VA presented four POW medals to WWII POW’s that were prisoners at Camp O’Donnell.

 - American Legion Post 123 performed the grave side burial ceremony for SGT Alexander Williams, USAF Veteran at the Clark Cemetery on 20 November.

 - On 21 November, Commander B.K. Hubbard was the guest of Beagle #1 Joe Hester, for Thanksgiving Dinner at the Dog House.

 - Comrade Larry Long (Puducah, KY) attended the November Scratch of Grand Kentucky, Pup Tent 9, Franklin, KY.  He presented several letters of appreciation from Post 2485 and MOC Pinatubo - Pup Tent 15 and.  He also presented a collection of ball caps to decorate the Post Canteen and a U.S. flag flown over the Clark Cemetery on Veterans Day 1998.

 - The Flipino-American Endowment (FAME), an organization under the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Inc umbrella, were given a tour of the Clark Cemetery by Commander B.K. Hubbard, Cemetery Chairman Al Mitchell and Cemetery Maintenance Supervisor Ed Rubio on 1 December.  The Clark Cemetery is recipient of a yearly grant from FAME.  After the tour FAME held their quarterly business meeting in the Post Special Function Room and were guests of the Post for lunch.  The Post presented FAME both U.S. and Philippines that were flown over the Clark Cemetery on Veterans Day.

 - On 2 December, American Legion Post 123 performed the grave side ceremony for PFC Gunter S. Barrius, USA Veteran, at the Clark Cemetery.

 - On 5 December, Post members, wives, significant others and supporters assembled to make preparations for the Annual Post Pearl Buck Foundation Christmas Party.  Volunteers, for filling the give-a-way bags,  included Commander B.K. Hubbard and Juvy Angcao:  Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern and Tess Ibanita;  Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz: District VII, Past All American and All American Post Commander Robert Zaher and Lannie Antitorta; Pup Tent 15 Seam Squirrel Werner Koslovski; Jack and Nette Turner; Tony Lopez; Jack and Nelly Robbins; Jim Mahoney; Steve Piechocky and Alma Palecio; Dan and Karen Steingrubber; John Welsh and Cynthia Evangelista; Cecil and Linda Johnson; Tom Elloitt and Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer.  The group adjourned to the Pearl Buck Foundation Home and passed out the bags.  District VII Commander Zaher was Santa Claus.  National VFW District 16 Council Member Tom Elloitt joined in the festivities.

 - The Post donated 20 of the Christmas give-a-away bags to the Mt Arayat Shrine Oasis, to be utilized at their Christmas Party for Crippled Children.

 - National VFW District 16 Council Member Tom Elloitt transferred his membership to the Post, on 5 December.

 - Ray Sisk, candidate for National VFW Junior Vice Commander from California and Darrell Benken, VFW supporter from Kansas visited the Post, 8-9 December.

 - The Department of Pacific Areas Mid-Term Cof A was held in Barrio Barretto on 11-12 December.  It was sponsored by Post 11447.  Post attendees included Commander B.K. Hubbard, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, National VFW Council 15 Member Tom Elloitt, District VII Commander Robert Zaher, Junior Past Commander Lafayette Donaldson, Past All American Department Commander Ralph Milward, Past Grand Commander John Welsh, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer, Comrades Cecil Johnson, Werner Koslovski, Ken Miller and Cliff Wilsey.  John Gwizdak, National VFW Senior Vice Commander, Joe Ridgley, National VFW Quartermaster General, Ray Sisk, candidate for National VFW Junior Vice Commander from California and Darrell Benken, VFW supporter from Kansas were also present.

 - At the Mid Term, Post 9467, Yokohoma, Japan presented the Post with $300 for the Post 2485 Cleft Lip/Palate Program and $300 for Clark Cemetery Maintenance.  Post 9555, Yokota, Japan presented $500 for the Clark Cemetery Maintenance.  Quartermaster Joe Ridgley,  presented Commander B.K. Hubbard a check for $3,500 from the National VFW for Cemetery Maintenance.

 - Senior Vice Commander John Gwizdak, Quartermaster Joe Ridgley, Junior Vice Commander candidate Ray Sisk and Darrell Benken visited the Post, 12-13 December.

 - On 13 December, the Post hosted a Working Breakfast Clark Cemetery Briefing for Senior Vice Commander John Gwizdak, Quartermaster Joe Ridgley,  Junior Vice Commander candidate Ray Sisk and Darrell Benken.  Comrade Al Mitchell, Cemetery Chairman and Commander B.K. Hubbard briefed on cemetery matters.  After breakfast the group continued the briefing with a walking tour of the Clark Cemetery, where they were joined by Cemetery Maintenance Supervisor Ed Rubio.  Attendees at the breakfast/tour included Senior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz; Department Commander Emory Russell; Senior Vice Commander Paul Gasperson; Junior Vice Commander Bill Wichmann; Junior Past Department Commander Frank Sass; National VFW Council 15 Member Tom Elloitt; Richard Keeley, Post 9612; Comrade John Welsh.  After discussions, Senior Vice Commander Gwizdak and Quartermaster Ridgley decided to present the Post with six sets of flags to be utilized at the cemetery.

 - The Post hosted a social, at the Post Home, for Senior Vice Commander John Gwizdak and Quartermaster Joe Ridgley on 13 December.  Attendees  included National VFW District 15 Council Member Tom Elloitt, Department Commander Emory Russell, Department Senior Vice Commander Paul Gasperson, Department Junior Vice Commander/MOC Grand Pacific Senior Vice Commander Bill Wichmann, District VII and All American Department and All American Post Commander Robert Zaher.  The Post was represented by Commander B.K. Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz and approximately 50 Post members and their ladies.

   - - Quartermaster Ridgley presented the Post with a duplicate of the 100th Anniversary Gold Coin National VFW Commander John Smart used in the coin-toss at the Army-Navy Football Game.

   - - Quartermaster Ridgley auctioned off a second 100th Anniversary Gold Coin for the benefit of the Post Building Fund.  District II Commander Von “Boats” Stephens bought the this coin with a winner bid of P7500.

 

   - - Senior Vice Commander Gwizdak presented the Post with a Commander John Smart VFW 100th Anniversary Medallion (approximately 4 inches in diameter).  The medallion will be mounted and framed in the Post Home.

 - The winner of the Post 1999-2000 Voice of Democracy Contest was Mr Nathan Jones, a Senior at Faith Academy, Manila.  This is the second consecutive win for Mr Jones.  He will represent the Post in the District VII Program.

 - Comrade Ken Tretow, Chairman of the Pup Tent 8 (Post 10216, Songtan-Si, Korea) sponsored Paddy Daddy Program, presented Commander B.K. Hubbard with the Post Paddy Daddy Plaque.

 - Commander B.K. Hubbard attended the 43rd Installation Dinner of the Mt Arayat Shrine Oasis.  The dinner was held in the Post meeting room of the new Post Home.

 - PCCS (AW/SW) Charles Boyd , USN signed up as the 900th Post member (881st Life Member) on 20 December.  Senior Chief Boyd is on active duty with the Staff of CINCPACFLT in Hawaii.

 - The winner of the Post 1999-2000 Youth Assay Program was Miss Maera I. Busa.   Miss Busa is a 8th grade student at International School, Manila.  She will represent the Post in the District VII competition.

 - A general cleanup of the old Post Home was held on 29 December .  Members sorted through and disposed of about 13 years worth of accumulated junk.  A decision to keep the old Post Home for an undetermined period was made by the membership at the December General Membership meeting.  Members assisting in the cleanup included Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern, District VII and All American Department and All American Post Commander Robert Zaher, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer, Comrades Ed Rubio, Bill Prokoph, Bill Feldt and Ron Devlin.

 - Twenty Six U.S. Veterans were buried in the Clark Cemetery during the 1999 calendar year.

 - Seventeen operations were performed by the Children’s Operation Fund during the 1999 calendar year.

 - Post members were invited by the Rotary Club of Clark Centennial to a luncheon/meeting  at the Four Seasons Restaurant on Clark Field on 4 January.  The guest speaker was Spike Nasmyth, a former Viet Nam POW and member of the Post.

 - Post members received the following 1999 - 2000 National Appointments:

   - - Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer to the Committee on Community Service

   - - Clark Cemetery Chairman Albert Mitchell appointed as National Aide de Camp

 - Post members attended a meeting of the Angeles City Ex-Pat Council on 6 January.  The meeting was held at American Legion Post 123.  Attendance included representatives from VFW Post 2485, American Legion Post 123, American Legion Post 10, the Beagles, DAV, Pup Tent 15, RAO and the  Mt Arayat Shrine Oasis.

 - Commander B.K. Hubbard attended the District V meeting in Pattaya Beach, Thailand on 15 January.

 - Comrade Bobby Joe Nigel hosted a Post 2485 Familiarization Day at the 60's Bar in Pattaya Beach, Thailand, on 16 January.  It was attended by Commander B.K. Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern and Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz.

 - The Post hosted a working breakfast and discussions with Mr Barry Barker, Director of the VA Regional Office in Manila and Mr Joe Cooley, Deputy Director VA Regional Office.  Organizations attending were VFW Post 2485, Pup Tent 15, RAO, the Beagles, American Legion Post 10, American Legion Post 123, DAV and SFA.

 - On 26 January, Commander B.K. Hubbard, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer, Comrades Bill Feldt and Bo Bollenbach attended the Australia Day Observance hosted by the Returned and Services League of Australia, Angeles City Branch.

 - Comrade Bill Lyon presented the Post with three photos, (1) depicts General MacArthur and Major Eisenhower in Manila, circa 1938; (2) depicts a scene in Malinta Tunnel on Corregidor before the surrender; (3) depicts American/Filipinos POWs exciting the Malinta Tunnel under Japanese guard.  The photos were framed and now hang in the Post Home.

 - Post officers performed a VFW Memorial Service for Comrade Jim Gordon on 8 February.  Comrade Gordon, a member of Post 2485, was also Commander American Legion Post 123.

 - On 9 February, American Legion Post 123 performed the grave side ceremony for SSGT James Gordon, USA, at the Clark Cemetery.  Comrade Gordon was the current Commander, American Legion Post 123.

 - On 9 February, Post officers performed the grave side ceremony for PFC Michael Segel, USA Veteran, at the Clark Cemetery.

 - The Post sponsored a hole in the Post 124 Golf Tournament held at the Baguio Country Club on 10 February.   The tournament was sponsored by Post 124.  District VII and All American Department and All American Post Commander Robert Zaher participated in the tournament.  Post members attended the Post 124 social and raffle drawing at the Post 124 meeting place (Linda’s Restaurant in Baguio)

 - Commander B.K. Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern, Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, District VII and All American Department and All American Post Commander Robert Zaher, Comrades Cliff Wilsey and Cemetery Chairman Al Mitchell attended the District VII Convention in Baguio.

 - On 14 February, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern and approximately 20 Post members attended the Beagles Valentines Day Dinner/Dance.  The Dinner/Dance was held at the Garden Dine Restaurant, Angeles City.

 - Due to the absence of the Post Commander, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern conducted the Post meeting on 4 March.

 - Past All American Department Commander Ralph Milward attended the VFW National Legislative Conference as a member of the MIA/POW Committee on 12-16 March 2000.

 - The Post received a Certificate of Membership in the “Advanced Guard of the VFW WWII Memorial Project.”  The certificate was signed by Commander in Chief John Smart and dated 13 March 2000.

 - On 16 March, Commander B.K. Hubbard and Cemetery Chairman Al Mitchell met with Dick Petroski, Past Post Commander, VFW Post 2246, Rome NY at the Post Home and accepted $700.00 worth of checks for Clark Cemetery maintenance .  The checks were $250.00 from VFW Post 7916, Qiccoquar, VA; $200.00 from the Frank J. Slezko Post of the Polish American Veterans; and $250.00 from VFW Post 2246, Rome NY.  Comrade Pertroski was given a tour of the cemetery and assisted with flag changing on 16 March.

 - On 16 March, Commander B.K. Hubbard, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer,  Junior Past Commander Lafayette Donaldson, Comrades Al Mitchell, Ed Rubio, Joe Hester and other Post Members attended the 40 Day reception for the death of Comrade James Gordon.

 - The Post provided scruntineers to the Returned & Services League (RSL) election of 1999-2000 officers.  Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer and  Junior Past Commander Lafayette Donaldson preformed the service.  This is the 4th year the Post has been ask to perform this service.

 - On 21 March, Commander B.K. Hubbard, District VII Commander Robert Zaher and approximately 25 Post members attended a wake for “Mick’ O’Brien, very popular Angeles City resident and President of the Returned & Services League (RSL) of Australia, Angeles City Branch.  The wake was held at Moon Doggies Bar in Angeles City.

 - On 27 March, American Legion Post 10 performed the grave side ceremony for MSGT Leo G. Landry, USAF (Ret), at the Clark Cemetery.

 - Prior to the 2 April Monthly Meeting, Senior Vice Commander Robert McGovern resigned.  Junior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz was moved into the Senior Vice Commander Position.  Nominations for a new 1999-2000 year Junior Vice Commander were held.

 - On 3 April, Commander B.K. Hubbard and Comrade Buddy McGuire attended the 14th Recognition Day at the Malabanias Elementary School.  The school presented the Post with a Certificate of Appreciation for continued support of the school.

 - The Post sponsored a hole in the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) Branch 367 Golf Tournament held at the Philippine Navy Electronics Training Center, San Miguel, on 3 April.

 - The Post presented the Rotary Club of Clark Centennial a $100.00 check to be utilized in their Angeles City Street Children’s Home Project.  Commander B.K. Hubbard and Senior Vice Commander (Commander elect) Jerry Prinz made the presentation on 4 April.

 - Past All American District VII and All American Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer was delegate to the National VFW Community Affairs Conference, Washington, DC 10-12 April.

 - On 6 April, the Post hosted the quarterly meeting of the Angeles City Ex-Pat Council.  Attendance included representatives from VFW Post 2485, American Legion Post 123 and  American Legion Post 10.

 - The Battling Bastards of Bataan hosted a dinner for their touring members and wives at the Post Home on 6 April.  Post Commander B.K. Hubbard was an invited guest.

 - On 7 April, Post members attended the dedication and unveiling ceremonies of the American Military Memorial at the Capas National Shrine.  The shrine is dedicated to the over 1600 Americans that lost theirs lives while in the POW at Camp O’Donnell.  The shrine contains a replica of a cross constructed during the POW Camp days and a list of the names of those who perished.  Comrade Leroy Becraft, Post member and former POW, assisted in the unveiling of the monument.  Guests included U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Thomas Hubbard; Philippine Secretary of Defense Orlando S. Mercado; COL Rafael R. Estrada, PA (Ret), Philippine National Commander. Defenders of Bataan/Corregidor; Major Richard Gordon, Adjutant, Battling Bastard of Bataan; Beth Day Romulo, Filipino-American Endowment.  Post members attending included  Commander B.K. Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz, District VII and Past All American Department and Post Commander Bob Zaher, Junior Past Commander Lafayette Donaldson, National VFW District 15 Council Member Tom Elloitt, Comrades Buddy McGuire, Al Mitchell, Ed Rubio, Ron Barker, Leroy Becraft and Joe Cooley, Deputy Director of the VA Regional Office in Manila.

 - On 9 April, the Post sponsored a Memorial to the survivors and those who gave their lives in the Bataan Death March/POW Camps at Camp O’Donnell.  The Memorial was held at KM Marker 112 on the road to Camp O’Donnell.  A wreath was laid by Department Senior Vice Commander Paul Gasperson, District VII and Past All American Department and Post Commander Bob Zaher, Commander B.K. Hubbard, Post 11447 Commander O.B. O’Briant, Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 46 President Ted “Shorty” Phillips and Comrade Leroy Becraft, a former POW and Post member.  Also attending the ceremony was Senior Vice Commander (Post Commander elect) Jerry Prinz; Past All American Commander Ralph Milward; Joe Cooley, Deputy Director VA Office in Manila; Comrades Buddy McGuire; Al Mitchell; Ron Barker; Ed Rubio; Post 11447 Junior Vice Commander R.C. Cox; and Ralph Shireman from American Legion Post 10.  

 - On 12 April. the Post celebrated it's 13th Post Anniversary.  Approximately 80 comrades, wives and significant others were in attendance for drinks and light pu pus.  Guests included Department Senior Vice Commander Paul Gasperson; Department Junior Vice Commander Bill Wichmann: District 16 Council Member Tom Elloitt; Past All American Department/Post and District VII Commander Robert Zaher, Past All American Department Commander Ralph Milward, Past All American Department Commander Frank Sass, Past All American District VII Commander Paul Morgenthal, Past All American District III Commander Roy Banning, Past Grand Commander John Welsh and Past All State Commander Lafayette Donaldson.

 - The April District VII Convention was hosted, 15 April, by VFW Post 2485 in La Union. Elections for the District VII 2000 - 2001 year officers were held. Post Commander B.K. Hubbard was elected Senior Vice Commander and Ralph Milward was elected Advocate.  District VII Commander Bob Zaher presented Post members with the following awards:

John Welsh, Jack Turner, Ken Miller, Buddy McGuire, Terry Gillem, Ron Barker, Al Mitchell and Cliff Wilsey.

 - On 17 April, Commander B.K. Hubbard; Past All American Department/Post and current District VII Commander Robert Zaher; and Past All American District VII Paul Morgenthal were selected as members of the Department All Pacific Team.. Commander Hubbard was selected as Team Captain.

 - On 18 April, American Legion Post 10 performed the grave side ceremony for SFC Paquuito R. Aguiling USA (Ret), at the Clark Cemetery.

 - On 22 April, the Post hosted a luncheon for Post, District VII and Department Voice Of Democracy (VOD) winner Mr Nathan Jones. Young Mr Jones, a student at Faith Academy, Manila was accompanied to the luncheon by his parents, Mr and Mrs Lawrence Jones, brother Caleb, sister Keris and a counselor from the Faith Academy, Ms Susan Swearinger.  Mr Jones told about his recent VFW sponsored trip to Washington and delivered his speech.  District VII Commander Robert Zaher presented young Mr Jones'a check for $100.00 for winning the District VII VOD Contest and Past All American District VII and Post Commander Kenneth Schaefer (Department VOD Chairman) presented him with a Department VOD Certificate for a $500.00 U.S. Savings Bond.  Members in attendance Commander B.K. Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz (Commander elect), Commander District VII Robert Zaher Junior Past Commander Lafayette Donaldson, Seam Squirrel Werner Koslovski, Past Grand Commander John Welsh, Past All American Department Commander Ralph Milward, Ken Miller, Ken Schaefer, Al Mitchell, Ron Barker and Jack Turner.  Post 11447 members attending were Commander O.B. O'Briant, Senior Vice Commander Ted "Shorty"Philips and Junior Vice Commander R.C. Cox.

 - Senior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz and approximately 12 Post members attended the ANZAC Day Observance at the Clark Cemetery on 25 April. This annual observance is sponsored by the Returned & Services League (RSL, Angeles City Branch The Post cemetery crew provided on site support at the cemetery.

 - On 25 April, Commander B.K. Hubbard attended ANZAC Day Observance at the Coconut Grove, La Union.  Department Commander Emory Russell, Post 9892  Commander Tim Aukshun and Post 9892 members also attended.

 - Post officers conducted a VFW Memorial Ceremony for Comrade Orie (Roy) Royce USA (Ret) on 28 April. Comrade Bill Rossell delivered the eulogy. Post members attending included Commander B.K. Hubbard, Senior Vice Commander Jerry Prinz Junior Past Commander Lafayette Donaldson, Pup Tent 15 Seam Squirrel Werner Koslovski, Past All American Department Commander Joe Carsley, Comrades Kenneth Schaefer, Ronald Burrus, Buddy McGuire and Ben Adair.

 - During the year Surgeon Cecil Johnson., utilizing the Post 2485 CPR manikin, presented CPR/First Aid training to the following.

- - VFW employees, (14 hours, 10 students)

- - Angeles University (AUF) Hospital, 52 hours 120 students)

- - Angeles City (AUF) students, (12 hours, 30 students)

 - The Post continued to provide grounds maintenance and burial assistance at the Clark Cemetery.

 - Four Veterans have been buried at the Clark Cemetery in 2000, as of the date of this report (twenty six were buried during the 1999 calendar year)

 - During this Commanders Year, as of the date of this report:
