CLARK CEMETERY Report MARCH 2000

 

1.  The following is the VFW Post 2485 Clark Cemetery Report for March.

A. Three U.S. veteran donated 265 man hours working on cemetery projects this month.

(1)   Four local hires worked 704 man hours over 22 work days.

(2)   The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) contract grass cutters worked three days and their clean up (trash and leaves) crew worked every day crew.

B. Total expenditures for March were (P34984.00). The expenditure sheet for the month is attached. All amounts are in Pesos. Exchange rates for dollars vary.                

C.  Flag inventory:

(1)   Seven sets of new flags

(2)   Flags were changed March 23

D.  Burial ceremonies:

(1)   Leo G. Landry MSgt. U.S. Air Force (Ret) was buried at the Clark Cemetery On March 27. Grave side services were conducted by American Legion Post 10.

E.  Donations for cemetery maintenance:

(1) VFW Post 2246, Rome N.Y.                                                                $250.00

(3)   Hawkins-Reeve VFW Post 7916, Occoquan, VA                   $250.00

(4)   Frank J. Steczko Post, Polish American Veterans, Rome, N.Y.                $200.00

(5)   RUMPA, Angeles City                                                                    $50.00

F.   Cemetery Visitors:

(1)     Richard R. Petroski, Past Commander VFW Post 2246, Rome, N.Y.

H.  Remarks:

(2)    Dick Petroski presented the donations from VFW Post 2246, VFW Post 7916 and the Polish American Veterans Post to the Cemetery Chairman at our post Home on March 15. On March 16 Mr. Petroski visited the Clark Cemetery with Commander Hubbard and the Cemetery Chairman.

(3)    On March 23 the flags being flown over the Clark Cemetery were replaced with flags donated by our National Headquarters. In attendance during the change of flags were Commander B.K. Hubbard, VFW Post 2485, Angeles City and Past Commander Richard “Dick” Petroski, VFW Post 2246, Rome, N.Y.

(4)    The Cemetery crew is to be commended for their efforts to clean the more than eight thousand markers at the Clark Cemetery. Appearance has improved 500%.

(5)    As of March 31, the Grave Diggers membership stands at 439.
